anyone own a del sol or prelude?

Well i'm in the market for a "winter/beater" car and was intrigued by these to cars...i was just wondering if anyone has owned one and what they thought of it. Thanks guys....oh years 1993-96 or so

My boss had a Del Sol...... hated it. Mostly due to the ride quality, it wasn't exactly comfortable. I had a 96 Honda for a year or so. Great mileage, lousy seats, good A/C, crappy body integrity. I never had a car start rusting as quickly. Sheetmetal was really thin with crappy paint.

Well i'm basically just looking for a cheap to aquire car with good mileage...so far this car seems to fit the bill. The rust though is a major concern as i HATE rusty cars. Of course if the car isn't rusty after 10 or so years on the road, it may not be a problem

All I can tell you is that the little rocks and stuff that bounce off our cars and maybe leaves a small scratch or rub on the paint takes a big chip out of a Honda's finish. I've never seen such crappy paint integrity. I'll bet money that if you drive it up north and it sees any salt, she's a rust bucket in no time.

Well i was also thinking of a Saturn SC2 what do you think of that?

I thought so too, i've seen them for pretty cheap. I really want to be able to put the bird away for winter, which at this time i can't Plus i'm nervous to have to drive it in the snow...which up to this point i've never done with a rear wheel drive car(only done it in an '92 eclipse and '93 cadillac)

93-94 Cavalier... Ugly as hell, but my old one got 30mpg highway, ran great, was probably the best car I have ever driven in the snow & the the car only cost me $300!!! At that price you could buy a new one every winter!

Never had one, but one of my clients does. I'll ask them.

My wife had a '93 Saturn SC2 for 149K miles (1999). The only thing we ever replaced was the battery and the alternator. It was a great car. Sold it to a Saturn mechanic to use as his daily commuter. It's still on the road with well over 200K on the clock.

For the snow months I reccomend A K-Car, I see alot of them for sale for under $500 canadian in decent shape

I'd say an old suburu for a winter car would be good. Cheap, and AWD. Throw some snow tires on it and it'd be pretty un-stoppable.

That is if you get a good amount of snow there. If not, I'd go for the prelude.

toyota celica boss has one, 215K and takes a beating, sits all summer, then starts up.

saturns, try to find one that wasnt driven by a kid, they like to launch the diff pins sometimes.

i had a k-car. 200$ 5spd. 2.5L put bout 800$ into it in 2 years, the brake lines were bought to pop, fuel line popped on me, fuel pump went, then the headgasket blew. i was lucky tho. car only had one headgasket be4. usually the 2.5s are known for head gaskets

i would recommend either a subaru, toyota, or ford taurus with the 3.0L(92-95) the 3.8s had head gasket problems
