Does Islam teach extortion?

I do beleive Islam started out as a very peaceful religion and still is in some parts of the world. But the wackos over there have completely altered it to fit in with their desires.

Don't think peaceful and religion go in the same sentence! Just look at the last 2000+ years, how many Millions of people were killed in the name of Religion!
