I think that will be in the cards. I suppose it's all part of the negotiation. Right now they want to offer me book value which isn't squat. The more equipment on there, the more they will want for salvage. Somehow I want to retain the bird so that I can completely strip all the parts and box them up. I mean everything too. Window motors, power door lock actuators, headlight motors, radio, etc..... and of course all the bolt ons. There will be a point in time that they will come in handy.Originally posted by FroSStyI wonder if it might be a good idea to buy the car back as salvage just for the suspension parts and such that could be transfered to another T/A or maybe even your 93? Not to mention the rest of the drivetrain. They usually don't ask for much to buy it back...
I'll see what I can dig up, I have quite a few pics.Originally posted by 88bird5spdjoe, is it alright if u send me a picture of the 97 from be4 the wreck, i kinda have an idea for it if u dont mind. its nothing big. just a small tribute

Just thought I would post an update. The injuries seem to be slowly healing. Pain levels bite. My left leg is still giving me fits, the knee and hip are pretty tender. Walking even with a cane is exhausting. Sitting for too long hurts as well, it's kinda a no win situation. Can't sit for long, can't stand for long.
I'm used to being active and this slowed me down big time. kicked my ass if you wanna know the truth. One part that is getting old is the flashbacks of the accident and all the aftermath. I have to drive by the spot several times every day (at least 4 times a day) and it's just sickening every time. I'm back to work, although what I can do is limited both in time and physical exertion. It really interferes with what needs to be done.
Oh well, another doctor's appointment tomorrow and I'll know more about whether it's MRI time.

Keep on keepin' on, Joe. You'll be okay. The alternative could have been much worse as you know better than anyone. Injuries are frustrating, but you'll be back better than ever.SOLD: 2002 Trans Am WS.6 - Black on Black - 6 Speed

that sucks about your wreck. we just had a local fbody guy get put into a wall at 60 mph by 2 people racing. Here is the post he made about the crash. there are some pics at the link. he was actually driving our buddy jasons TA. Jason now has a 2001 Sunset Orange Metallic 6-speed SS. 1 of 4 SOM SS's in 2001 with center exit exhaust. only 29k miles on the car.

As most of you know I was in a pretty serious car accident 3 days before my birthday, which is the reason I havent seen many of you for some time. For those that dont know the whole story, here goes. I took the car out to throw a little gas in the tank before I stored it, it was a nice night, I had the windows down a bit. I'm at the rt. 8 north entrance ramp at Chapel Hill, the light is red and I noticed my wallet had fallen out of my pocket and is behind the seat, so I un-buckeld to reach around to get it. I looked up after getting it and the light was green, forgot to put my belt back on. So now I have the cruise control set at 60 mph just cruising on a nice night listen to "pain" by Three Days Grace. Defintaly the last time that I would have had the car out in 2006 so I was just enjoying the nice night. I look in my rearview and see these gayassed bllue headlights weaving in and out of traffic. The only car in front of me was in the center lane(I was in the rightor slow lane) and that car was maybe a little more than half car in front of me, but a lane over. Then I see a stock 98sih red 2 door grand am/prix fly past me in the far left lane, now a 95ish green talon/eclpise is in the middle lane hauling ass. Instead of going to the left lane which is open because the pontiac already passed, he swerves into my lane. I jerk right pretty hard and he rubbed the front fender. I try to correct after going on to the shoulder, huh uh, aint gonna happen. So what happens was basically the same thing that happend to Dale Ernhardt when he died at Daytona, I went across all 3 lanes and went head on into the concrete divider, no seat belt. I hit so hard the back end almost flipped over the front, one of the witnesess stated. I was bleeding everywhere, the inteirior pic doesnt do it justice, there was blood EVERYWHERE, alot more than that little bit that is shown in the pic. Basically I ended up with 9 staples in my head, chipped fibia, torn ligaments in my foot, broken knuckle, bruised vertabre (from my head hitting the t-top), etc. But I think Im pretty goddamned luck for getting out of the car and just walking away right after it happend, should have been alot worse.87 GTA: it's winter time, all tore apart

This is why so many of us are against street racing. People like us pay the price due to other people's stupidity. Every day since the accident I watch the stupidity displayed by other drivers only now my reaction is one of fear of bodily harm.

Welp...... Doc is sending me for an MRI of the wrist and the knee. The knee is slow to respond.
So is the insurance company. Come to think of it, so is the guy that caused this. He's still not calling back the insurance company. Something tells me he's going to skip town. When you don't return the phone calls of your own insurance company, even when they send you certified letters..... something is wrong with the picture.
