    Help! 95 GrandAm troubles

    My Brother needs some help.

    His car started doing strange stuff. The speedometer would jump around a bit, then next time he stopped the transmission would be stuck in first gear. If he stops, shuts off the car and restarts it it shifts fine again, until it randomly decides to screw up again. He got under the car and disconnected the VSS. He cleaned the connector and put it back together. Now it is even worse, the car is not drivable. He then replaced the VSS. This has not helped. We scanned it for codes, there are .

    The VSS has 2 wires going to it. The sensor appears to be magnetic. What should the voltages to the wires be? Neither one of them appear to have any power with the key on.

    Chryslers will do the exact same thing when it isn't getting a good 12 volt source. Many times it is just a bad battery cable connection to the battery. It's worth a try.

      Any other ideas?

      Anyone know what voltage readings we should see on the VSS wires?

        It's fixed!


        The VSS has 2 wires that go to the PCM. An ohms meter showed that one of those wires had a break in it. We replaced the wire and now it works perfect.
