My dad has an 87 Toyota. We changed the clutch in the compressor because the compressor wouldn't kick on. Then we vacuumed everything out. Now we can get the compressor to kick on to accept the r-12. What can i do to get the compressor to turn on?

You can jumper the low pressure switch.

This is a None-F-body thread. Should be on the Off topic forum.

P.s. Just like Jeff said. Jumper the Compressor to activate the clutches. That should help you get that Old school R12 in there. I didnt believe anyone was still using that stuff.

Find the low pressure switch on the low pressure line from the evaporator to the condensor. If it has 2 wires going to it unplug it and jumper it with a paper clip. Don't let the paper clip touch anything metal. If it has 3 wires I don't know which wires to jumper.

What kinda Toyota? Normally the switch is right next to the accumulator or the evaporator housing. I doubt its under the dash.

1 pin would have to be short it to ground.
