you'll have to fork out the cash for a tubular k member, a-arms and basically everything else to come even close to 2500 lbs. gutting the interior is only going to drop the weight a couple hundred, my guess would be 200 or so lbs, the majority of that coming from the seats. but when you add in a 8 point cage, and other safety features you'll need, you'll be adding weight back in. i'd think you'd need SFC's for the car, and that right there will add in 30-40 lbs.

good luck either way. will a car built like that be able to pass CA inspection to be street legal?

Obviously there is more data to be collected, but at least this is a start. The wheel weights are rounded up to the next whole number, ditto for a few weight reduction items listed at the bottom. Hope this helps............

I'm fully aware that you want a challenge. It's not a matter of being a challenge. I understand that. I think this is a really cool idea and I've wanted to try something similar with a third gen or a Mustang for a while now. I simply don't know if you'll be able to come anywhere near your goal without spending more than you plan to. Kevin (FastTA) dropped 850lbs from his car, but he had Alumastars and drag slicks, light weight brakes, carbon fiber and chromoly everywhere, no cats or cat back, no emissions equipment, no e-brake, etc. Plus, some of his numbers seem a little exaggerated (57lbs for the A/C system? 55lbs for the carpeting and sound deadening material?) Here's his thread-

Well, good luck with it. They have a carbon fiber hood for Camaro's on this site- http://www.audioonwheels.com/merchant/mainpage.htm

I think Mustangs are even more nose heavy than F- bodies. Just about everyone I know who's owned one has told me a story of their tail end flying out from under them.
