Looks good on paper. However we'll have to see what the new ZR1 actually makes. The Viper is putting down over 546 RWHP. Yes, that converts to 642 engine horsepower. Chevrolet better have underrated the power, or we'll be taking a back seat to the viper.

Btw, I wanted a Viper KILLER. Not something that would compete with it and cost $30,000 more.

I'll post again later when I have time with more thoughts.
LS15 Power! Another LSx engine coming soon.

and I'll take a back seat to the all mighty norm...I forget that advertised bhp is hogwash now and days with these types of cars...so with that, we'll wait and see.

Please don't take what I say personally. I am just a little peaved as I was expecting so much more from this car due to all the hype. I and am just venting. It is very seldom something automobile related bothers me but this has gotten to me a bit. Being a former Viper owner, I've always been proud of the direction Chevrolet had taken with the Z06. I just feel they went a step backwards. If they had just left the Z06 alone and upped the performance of the engine alone, it would have been much improved and would probably outperform the new ZR1. However, I still think they'll make some changes before it is all said and done. That 3350 pounds is still haunting me.

Weight sure is the killer. Many folks don't realize that the same performance can be had for far less dough, even from the factory if they just made them lighter........ then 650 HP and all it's expense isn't required.

I really am a fan of the 2200 to 2500 lb chassis area. It takes far less tire to make it stick, far less HP to make it cook, and longevity appears to be increased. Weight= bad

I'm a little disappointed also. The projected cost and weight increase and only 650 hp...

You can get a brand new 08 Z06 for around 70K and put a super charger on it and it will have the same hp if not more and cost and weigh less... I guess I must be missing something.

Nope, you're not missing anything except maybe that the car might be marketed to a slightly different kind of cutomer...... the type that wants the "top of the line from the factory, Super Vette" Most savy performance freaks would take a hard look at the performance per dollar spent and likely do their own performance makeover to suit their wishes. Heck, someone with the proper understanding of true performance could build the same thing for much less, there just wouldn't be a factory warranty or collectable status.

Thought I'd throw in my .02 cents here. If I'm not mistaken the max occupant load on the Z06 is around 400lbs. (399 to be exact) Yea, you read that correctly 400lbs. I don't know about you but I'm 6' and weigh around 190#, pretty average. So one of my "average" friends and myself maxes out the load capacity. How many of you are "average"? I know there was some concern at GM about how wide our a$$es have become as a society in general. I'm willing to bet some of the ZR1's weight gain may be to compensate for our weight gain.

Let me rephrase that...that didn't come out right. I will literally take a back seat because you are right Norman. Compared to you, my knowledge and experience with these cars are basically zero and pales in comparison. What I meant to say is; in my head..."Norm is right. Chris, you've learn a lot on this forum. As prideful as you are of GM, they might have taken a step in the wrong direction as Norm indicates. Compared your reasoning skills and knowledge with Norm, he's all mighty"

At no moment was I trying to cut anyone down, pick a fight or my behavior suggestive...especially towards Norman. My apologies.
