  • Woo Hoo... Moving to Socal (Camarillo)

as about to accept a position there in Yuma, AZ but as I was about to accept it, I got an offer from a job transfer to Point Mugu as a computer scientist for the Naval Air Warfare Center. I'll be working on the software for the UAV's
Best of all I have 2 different relatives vying for me to move in with them (it's expensive there) so I can save up $ for a house or a 'vette Commute will be still short . About 5-10 miles AT MOST. Best of all I will be near the majority of family for the first time in 15 years.

The hawk is coming out there as well. Will register it out there when forced to but will plan for a shop to put heads on it and make it smog legal for CA.

    NO MORE SNOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

            Congrats!

Sounds exciting and being near family is the most important part of this transfer. You can't put a price on it.

            Good luck!

Nice! Yeah thats about 60-90 minutes from LA so your should be good. Its beautiful in Camarillo but very $$$.

At least once in a great while you can make it over to the Drags in Fontana but My guess is Famoso (Bakersfield) would be closer!! Also maybe some of the Big meets we have once in a while.

Yeah its insane weather right now. I dont know what the hell is up. Should be in the 80-90s but its gloomy and about 68 outside.

I'll probably announce it to my work once I have the official documents in hand. Just paying it safe. Trying to get relocation reimbursement but will still go n o n e theless. Figure it will be 30 days so Julyish timeframe before the actual move - hopefully earlier. Can't wait to tell my boss and spread the word - it's kind of a negative env here - to the point someone committed suicide this week (different bldg - offbase and in front of police station) so getting outa here is a good thing!!!

I grew up their in Ventura so I'm aware of the May-gray and June-gloom . what is funny is my whole family is getting in on it and how to move. namely my dad on the way there as he wants to empty out his storage and its $100 monthly fee (read as I'll take the stuff so he save $ lol ) . Sister and Dad want to come help pack up and move so things looks easy... just that who's going to drive the hawk is getting them exited

looks like I will have less time than I think to get registered
                  http://www.sacbee.com/static/weblogs...html%3C/div%3E

as it seems they are cracking down meaning I gotta plan to spend 4k once I'm out there to get the hawk certified and the setup changed for CA (i'll probably make ~400 hp with AFR 205's - legal for CA, a slightly higher lsa and stock exhaust & emissions) so I gotta plan for this

Renting or buying in camarillo? I'll be your neighbor. Cops lately been pulling everyone over and they have 2 unmarked impalas to make your day worse.

renting sort of . Staying with relatives there so I can build up a nice down payment for my own place, in time. My sis and her family + me are moving to a great house (4 bdr + 3 car garage) with in ground Jacuzzi . Fastest way financially for me to get property of my own. I kid you not My brother and his wife are also vying for me to move into their house as the same time as my sis. They want what little I'd pay to go for renvovation of the house they are buying. I'd give up the idea of my own place for a bit it's the fastest way I can get out there and the fastest I can save up to buy a house of my own

As for being pulled over, I can say I am TDY as I have DoD stickers with the possibility of going permanent and that would get the law off my back registration wise (my uncle thought it was a believable excuse - he pretty much runs the ventura county sherrif's dept. (or at least way up there in the leadership))
