2A533 Bomber Avionics...which is now integrated avionics which means I could be working on some of the heavies, too. I had fighter avionics listed but the bomber avionics came up so I jumped on it. I ship to basic on 15June2010. Until then, much exercise and memorization and keeping myself qualified...

Not really...There are a bunch of bases and I guess it depends on the 'shread' i get.I probably won't know for about a year from now...I have to decide whether to sign for 4 yrs active, 4 yrs inactive or 6yrs active, 2 yrs inactive. Basically, if I sign for 6 yrs, I will start out as e-3 after tech school otherwise I will start out as e-1. However if I sign for 6 yrs and hate my job, I won't be able to cross train for 5 of them whereas if I signed for 4, I could crosstrain after 3... Do you know or can you ask around how long it takes to get to e-3 after tech? Thanks...

Well the first couple of ranks are given to you:
E-2 is 6 months time in grade which starts when the member enters IADT (what ever that means)
E-3 is 6 months time in grad at E-2.
So it would take you a year to get to A1C. It may or may not be beneficial to you depending on the length of you tech school...Mine was only 9 weeks, so it was well worth me signing for 6 years.2006 Saturn Ion Redline
