Since we appear to be doing TV show reviews
, anyone watch Full Throttle (2/16, History channel), and their 2-day rebuilds by two competing teams of matching 85 Buick GN's? After upgrading to a larger turbo, upgraded (race-only) exhaust, and a new MSD DIS-4 ignition system, the first car managed something like 14.4 @ 97mph on the first pass, and a blazing 14.8 on the second pass (they didn't even mention the mph). The second/losing car pulled a 17.8 on the first pass, and would not run for a second pass. Admittedly, the "teams" seemed to have little mechanical skills, had never seen turbos before, and had apparently never driven a car down the 1/4-mile. But even the help of an instructor from the Frank Hawley drag racing school didn't improve things.
The whole show seemed unbelievably amateur, and pointless.... an embarassment for the GN/GNX. The high point was a video loop that got played about 20 times during the show that included a GN pulling an 85deg wheel stand, and dropping hard enough for the entire undercarriage to leave a trail of sparks down the track.
