  • Good clutch to use for 95 Z28..

I am looking to get a SPEC clutch for my 95 Z but I am not sure whether to get the stage 1, 2, or 3. Money does not matter so I am looking to pick up a good clutch. Also the car is an everyday driver so I need something that suits it needs. If there is a better clutch out there for the same price range though feel free to let me know.

I wouldn't recomend a SPEC stage 2 or 3 clutch after the crap I went through with the SPEC stage 2. In all fairness other people have not had the same problems but do you want to risk it?

Speaking of clutches... what is the Centerforce II rated for HP and TQ? Will it hold my 383? Or should I opt for the Dual friction?

I would opt for a McLeod clutch. SPEC's are not bad but I feel that the McLeod products are better. Thunder Racing sells them.

ttt. So should I just get the SPEC stage 1 clutch then since some other people said they had trouble with the stage 2. Money is no problem though so I was going to get the stage 2. Would an SLP clutch be better to get?

Sorry. I got busy last night and forgot to come back and answer your question. Here is the thread on my problems with the SPEC stage 2 clutch. http://www.f-body.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9174 To make a long story short, the clutch had about a .010 taper in thickness. It was causing a massive driveline vibration when I let the clutch out. I'd swear the rear end was bouncing off the ground. Reverse was unusable. I bought a SLP clutch disc and put it in using the SPEC pressure plate and it fixed it. I sent my clutch back to SPEC and they sent me a new stage 1 disc. Since the SLP was working fine, I wasn't going to swap discs so I can't tell you how well the stage 1 disc works. I imagine it would be fine since it is organic. The stage 2 is Kevlar. I think the stage 2 would eventually wear in but it was not worth a year for that to happen. If I had it to do all over again, I would have bought the SLP clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing from http://www.lmperformance.com/2970/2.html .
