NFB (well, sorta): It's an outrage! What does Congress plan to do about this?

For pity's sake! The Feds regulate all sorts of things on cars anymore, from the height of your bumpers to the exact shade of red in your brake lights to the precise wording of the labeling on your tires.

So, why can't they do something useful for a change?!!? Like require the gasoline filler pipe to be on the driver's side of the car (where God intended it to be in the first place). That way, cars wouldn't be "driving on the wrong side" of the pumps at filling stations.

I'm tired of gridlock at the filling station and I'm not going to take it anymore!!!!

. . . to put the driver's side on the same side as the fuel filler.

Its always on the opposite side of the exhaust pipe

Put them back in the middle of the car behidn the license plate and
you won't have to guess anymore.

I Hear ya! My '91 Sunbird has the fuel filler on the Pass. side and my Firebird the Driver's side. My old '79 Camaro has it in the middle wich I love! I don't even have to think about which way I park at the pump for that car. Both my Firebird and Camaro have dual exhaust though.

My T/A and Bravada both have it on the driver's side, but my wife's '02 Exploder has it on the passenger side. I can't tell you how many times I've been driving it and pulled up to the pump before getting out and realizing I was on the wrong side.

Of course, the hoses are never long enough to reach the other side either. Nothing makes you look like a tool quite like getting back in your car and turning around the right way....

like i said...its all about fuel intergrity..who knows what the technical background is.... depends on the routing of stuff under and around the tank and where the neck extends from.
