  • Can JB Weld fix this....

I was removing the IAC motor from the bottom of the aluminum throttle body and one of the 4mm screws broke at the head. I tried drilling the screw out then the drill bit broke in the hole and was not coming out. I then drilled 5/16 hole about a half inch deep in order to remove all trace of the drill bit and broken screw.
I havent used JB weld much but I mixed some up and filled the larger hole. My intent is to drill and tap the patch to accomidate the new 4mm screw to hold the IAC motor in.
Do you guys think this will work or do I need to get a new bottom for my TB.
    Thanks

You can find used TBs for cheap on the forums for sale / wanted section. I would replace it.

I would probably be easier to fin another one but here are some options.

Everbody is probably aware of helicoils. They are a wound wire where you tap the hole with a helcoil tap then thread the helicoil in it to make the desired thread.

There is another option. They are called keenserts. They require a bigger hole and are a solid piece of metal with threads on the inside and outside outside. You screw it into the hole then drive 2 stop pins down the sides to keep it from turning. Here is a search for them. http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22...X1XgABAA%40%40
