It's because of the difference in the width of the rear axle assemblies between the 3rd Gens and the 4th Gens. You HAVE to use spacers on your setup, because you can't bolt a wheel with a 7.93" backspace on a 3rd Gen Rear axle (3" narrower than the 4th Gen). On a 4th Gen, any spacer at all moves the wheels outside the fender.

These cannot be rare, can they? I bought an entire set of these rims in great condition for only $30. These are an option on a 85 to i think 90 firebird. There is a more rare set for the 86 GTA that is almost identical. Do you think this is what this person thinks they have?

I think he's on something... If I remember correctly the ones he's has listed are 14x6.5. They were an option on my wifes 1985 V6 firebird that we bought new before we got married. The one's on the GTA's I think are 16" rims and are much more valuable.

I think alot of the people who end up sell firebird stuff like this online know very little about it.

I just looked up the 85 firebird rims they are 15x7

          here are the two wheels

Bingo. The 15" aren't worth squat.

No... the 14" rims that i have on my 82 t/a aren't worth squat. I have some better ones but i'm till i need new tires.

They'd look nice if they were chrome, but of course most rims do.

I keep thinking that this picture has a fake look.

I got my '82 trans am last june from a previous owner who let it sit for either one or two years in his backyard (keep in mind it has t-tops). It showed evidence that ALL of her previous owners neglectered her. They would rather cut out and/or bypass a disfunctional part instead of fixing or replacing it; that's why my posts are pretty common in this site, lol. The original rims were replaced with the generic rusty rims in the photo before. The original engine was swapped with that of an '86 caprice(kind of chevy's version of the buick century) . The amazing thing is that this was a great idea for them to put in this engine. the diagrams are virtually identical; except the original engine used a solenoid controlled EGR, while the 86 caprice engine uses a TVS. Also, my distributor... it's out of a 1970's chevy pickup .

While on a trip to Colorado over the summer with my family, we went to a flea market that was incredibly organized and there was no real junk there. We found a set of those firebird 15" rims mentioned earlier (your 'aren't worth squat rims') all for $30. Three of the rims had the trans am caps still on them in good condition as well, but the fourth rim was missing the cap; still not a bad deal though. As soon as new tires are needed they will be equiped.

BOTTOM LINE: THESE ARE THE RIMS I WANT ON MY CAR.
If anyone has a complete set of these rims could you let me know, thanks.

Those are the "High Tech" TransAm wheels. Those should be fairly common and not too expensive either.

                      None taken.

I have seen alot of rims on t/a's like mine, and these spiral rims, i think, look the best.

A guy on ebay has one for sale for $20, ONLY ONE. Just in case someone wants to make a heavy duty unicycle, lol.
