    ok, i have one aftermarket gauge drawing very little amperage hooked up to the single "ign" tap terminal on my fusepanel. i need to tap it again for a pump which is part of my supercharger oil recirculation circuit. whats an easy way to run 2 or more wires off this fused "ign" tap terminal? thanks

    I wouldn't do that. You should never 'tap' the same circuit twice. Go to one of the large gauge pink wires at the fusebox under the hood, especially for something as important as that pump.

      are those larger gauge pink wires hot (12v) ignition? also i havnt looked yet, but are they normally hooked up to anything or are they empty? thanks,

        The large gauge pink wires under the hood are typically used in the factory relays. If you are going to be using something that going to pull anything more than about 15 amps, you need to use these wires, as they have enough juice that's not used in them to run what you need to run. They'll go to stuff like the fuel pump, optispark, and anything else that has to be on when the key is turned to the "run" position. For instance, I have my MSD wiring all soldered in to the wiring located in this box. If you look, you'll see that some of the pink wires (ignition) and red wires (12v constant) terminate in this box in relay locations for accessories you do not have, so it's basically a blank wire just for you to use it. That's what I did, used wires that were not doing anything else. But even if you don't have any blank wires, you can still use the ones there, as they wire these cars overkill so that even if there is a surge of power, it will blow the fuse and not burn the wire up.

          ok i pulled the fusebox and looked under it at the pink 10 amp 14 gauge ignition wire. they have spade clips on them but how would i jump off one of those properly to another empty fuse terminal, i can get the brass fuse holders at autozone to fill one of the empty fuse slots but how would i jump that pink spade clip for the ignition fuse to run a short wire to a spare fuse, any suggestions? thanks,

            You are making life WAY too hard. Strip the insulation back and solder in whatever wire you need. No sense in going through all that work when you can make life easy, yet still safe. Add the fuse wherever you want after that.

              The "IGN" tap in the fuse panel is only for low amp services. It is useful for the signal wire to relays, for example, but not for the load the relay powers. For any appreciable amperage load - inculding a pump - I would NOT tap into ANY existing wire. Run a separate wire for the load directly from the positive terminal box near the battery, with the appropriate gauge wire and fuse. Tapping into any existing circuit assumes it is over-designed, and I would never make that assumption.
