I got the car up on stands this morning for a looksee on the underside......

My God

The oil from leaks and the accumulated grime is staggering. I started hitting it with simple green and a pressure washer and it's slowly coming clean. She's bone stock alright. Only a few hose clamps and vaccum lines have been swapped out. Eventually I'll get the stock parts to replace them for better asthetics and originality. It appears as though the topside of the engine is basically spotless, the water pump looks like a fairly recent change. The underside is the travesty..... I need to get simple green in the 55 gallon drum. Seriously, in places there was so much accumulated crud that I couldn't even see some of the attaching hardware. It's going to take multiple applications to get it squeeky clean.

BTW, simple green is great for washing dogs. Non toxic, biodegradeable and the critters smell great after their bath. I'm not pulling your leg, a vet friend of mine tipped me off to what they use. It's re-packaged, but the contents are the same right down to the scent.

Yeah, the 93s didn't get the 150 speedo unless you got the 3.23s and the Z-rated tires were an option. Also, as far as the SLP CAI goes, you can easily get away with a 94-97 one if you replace the stock intake elbow (which is what I did yet still using the 93 CAI). My Vortech elbow sits a full 1+ in. inside the CAI due to the added length, so and aftermarket elbow on a 94-97 CAI from SLP will work just fine. I would recommend the Vortech on this one since I am unsure as to the length of the Trick Flow unit (plus I hate Ford lol). And, there's not much difference in RPM between the 2.73 and 3.23 cars at 65...1500 vs. 1700 respectively. Plus, the 94-97s were even lower, with 65 being about 1450 rpm. Gotta love 50% overdrive lol. Anyways, it does sound like my Z, except replace the JVC unit with a Blaupunkt and the different gears. Enjoy man. Look forward to seeing some pics

Ah.... the SLP part that I have is specifiaclly for a 93 V8 speed density or a V6. It will swap in with no modifications.

Why would the 94-97 tach lower? Different gear ratio in the trans? I thought all f-body t-56s were the same.

Nope, our 93s (that's new saying to you lol ) have different gears than the 94-02s along with the different gear ratios. Plus, your tranny and mine have different 1st and 3rd gears (mine is 2.97 and 1.43, yours is 3.36 and 1.35). Our other gears are 2.07 for 2nd, 1.00 for 4th, 0.80 for 5th and 0.62 for 6th. The 94-02 gears are 2.66, 1.78, 1.30, 1.00, 0.74 and 0.50 on 3.42s. The newer ones do have better gears...but also have the MAF and the EGR pipe feeding off the pass. manifold instead of the AIR pump. I'll take my 93, thank you . Plus, we got that ugly yellow lettering instead of white lol

Yes, the size and tooth count does affect torque distribution and therefore strength. But in all cases, the T-56 is much stronger than it is given credit for.

Yeah i think the lower spedo came from the third gens becuase mine is a V8 with a 115 spedo, even though its only an RS. I think the IROC came with the same 115 spedometer becuase of the tires. -Just thought I'd throw my two cents in

Huh? I've had mine since january of 97. Still the original weatherstrip and no leaks. Yes, I take them off regularly.



I do kinda like hardtops, just thought this would have been nice to have both cars with T's.

Well that's very good, because out here most people I've talked to that have T-tops need to replace them every 2-3 years...must be the rain lol

not the rain.... I use Zaino tire dressing on the weatherstrip. It does work in keeping it soft and looking new. Not sure if that's the intended application, but I can vouch that it works.

I may have to try that on my weatherstripping. Couldn't hurt, right?
