anyone notice the 1991 Firehawk on there twice? One at 13.2 @107 from car and driver and the other at 13.4 105.2 from motor trend ...there are probably others on there twice but these caught my eye.

I think they need to check their facts a little better. They have a 1997 firebird listed as a LS1 and a 96 LT1 SS at 13.46?

That's pretty d@mn fast! Running a 4 minute mile is an amazing accomplishment, and that's right on pace.

Not me....when I was in hs a couple years ago, I think I ran the mile in 8:12 or something like that.

Then again though, I won the leg press competition....845 lbs.

I guess that's what happens when you start playing soccer at 2 years old

Well i was a sprinter so i couldn't keep up the pace, i ran the mile in like 5:55. But thats nothing, when i coached, i had a girl student in the 7th grade that ran 5:28 in the mile . This year she's a freshman in high school and won the state meet in the indoor mile Almost brings a tear to my eye Oh, and by the way 845 lbs is crazy

Wow, a 7th grader running it in 5:28....that's awesome.

I'm a bigger guy, so running wasn't my thing...but lifting some weights were before my back surgery. It took me a while to attain 845....couldn't do that now for the life of me....620 was what I maxed out as of a month ago. I'm weird though, I think all of the muscle in my body goes straight to my legs. My football coach in hs couldn't believe I maxed out 845 in a leg press, then maxed out 195 in bench pressing

HAHAHA, thats funny. 845 and 195 does seem a little lopsided. Don't know my max leg press but bench was like 160 or so. But i was a track runner and a cornerback in football, so heavy lifting isn't what i did. Well i did a little heavy lifting in track, like i said, i was a sprinter, and a jumper, and a hurdler So weight lifting helped in those areas.

And about that girl, she ran a 5:12 to win the state meet. Iknow she'll crack into the 4's by the time she graduates.

Wow....5:12 is amazing. I believe the fastest mile I ever witnessed was this guy named Justin Warrior on our CC team. He wound up going downstate, and was running in the low 5's as well. Phew, CC.....now that would scare me

In football I was an offensive right guard and left defensize tackle....so lifting weights was more my thing. It's funny though because I was fairly "small" in comparison to the other lineman. I only had one thing, get low, don't depend on my upper strength, and let my legs do all the work.

I think the funniest thing ever though was my freshman year in football. No one from the soccer team wanted to be our kicker....me having played organized soccer from the age of 4 until hs decided to give it a try being a punter/kicker. You should have seen the look of the coaches face when one of his lineman offered to kick...he laughed right at me. He gave me a shot though, and I think the only faces that were stunned more than my coach's when I asked to be kicker, was the faces of the other team when they saw a lineman back up to punt, or kick a 32 yd. field goal

~p.s.~I was one for 3 in the season for field goals....the 32 yarder ironically was the longest attempt

When i went to Glasgow H.S., a lineman was our kicker/punter. He was ok, but when i played for McKean H.S. (home of Randy White ) A soccer player was out kicker and went something like 20 and 24 and was allstate kicker and punter.

I must say, Randy White used to kick some major arse back in the day. He was actually co M.V.P. in the super bowl with....ugh....cannot remember his game....something martin I believe. The only super bowl ever with 2 M.V.P.'s.

I used to play football at St. Joseph hs. Actually, on our homecoming freshman game, we played St. Viator....and a former player of that team happened to stop by to see it......Walter Payton. We actually lost that game by 6 points, giving us second in conference too. That was in sept. '99, and if my memory serves me correct, he died in the beginning of november that year. It was pretty cool too, no press or anything...like no idea he was there.

Isiah Thomas is an allumn of St. Joe's though. Ever see the movie "Hoop Dreams"? It's a documentary about two basketball players that actually go to St. Joe's. You see the school many times and everything, as well as the b-ball coach, Gene Pingatore, who is a complete @sshole in real life by the way.

I think I'll stop hijacking now.....
have a good and safe weekend all

Well, I used to run the 100 m dash in 10.9 seconds, so 10.9 * 16 = 174 seconds, or about 2:50. LOL I know I know, wrong logic. I wish humans could keep a sprint pace for a mile.

But anyway, your mile times are great...I wish I was capable of long distance running
