Is the air dam that piece that blocks the underside of the car in front? If so, since mine is hanging down on one side, would that make the engine not cool as much as it used to on the freeway?

You are correct, that air dam traps and directs air to the radiator.

Thanks for clearing that up for me... and crap, cuz now I have to try to find a way to keep it up... it looks like some idiot cut it instead of removing it to get under it. LOL, duct tape??

A good quick fix is to use a flat bracket and a couple small self-tapping machine screws. As long as it's not noticable, it will hold better than duct tape until you get a new air dam.

One of the local morons in town took his off as part of his weight reduction after he beefed up his engine. Poor guy can't figure out why it keeps getting hot.

Correction... it WAS hanging down. Now it's gone. Must've fallen off or something.

Called the dealer, and it's not much more than the one on ebay (thanks for that, btw). Gotta order it though, so does anyone have any ideas for a temporary fix until I get it? I gotta drive out of town.

Temporary fix eh????? I think it's time to ghetto rig something here.

If it were me, I probably wouldn't drive my car. If it was absolutely inevitable....hmmmm.

                            1) Go to a junk yard and get yourself an air dam off another f-body.
                            2) Cut a piece of sheet metal and get it up there one of the many ways that was already mentioned
                            3) Cut a piece of heavy duty plastic and do the same as you would with the sheet metal.

And that's about all I'm thinking right now. I would probably try and find a way to zip tie it or screw it on there somehow just to make sure it doesn't fall off again.

                            Good luck
