  • New F-body... what to do?

Hello, everyone! I am new to this forum, but not to f-bodys. My first car (8 years ago) was a 1985 z28 w/ carb'd 305/ 5 speed, 2 years ago I had a 1999 Trans-am, ls1/ 6 speed, which 10 months later I was foced to part with, because of an addition to our family... my wonderful son, Gage! We had to have a 4 door. But I was recently put in the position to have the 4 door for my wife, and a cheap "anything" for me. It had to be another f-body. I found locally, a 1990 Firebird Formula, 305 tpi/ 5 speed with 117k, an unbelivebly straight body, decent paint, and good interior. It has new rubber, rotors/ brakes, and new steering components. It is a t-top car, but the A/C does not blow cold (my grandfather is in heating/ cooling, so I'm not worried about that). It runs very good, much better than my '85 Z ever thought about, despite bad valve guides, (puffs some smoke at start-up). Rebuilding the heads will be a winter project. I felt like I couldn't pass it up @ $2000, so I bought the thing last Thursday. Friday morning I had an 80 series Flowmaster and dual 4" magnaflow stainless steel tips added... sounds great! Well, just thought I would introduce myself, I look forward to this forum. What is everybody doing to tpi cars these days? Thanks, Clint.

On my 86 TPI I did the exhaust and also A Cold Air Intake that I built myself using this link, Home-made CAI. I'd also like to put on some new headers, and maybe in the future some new intake runners and base plate, just some ideas to get you started, and good luck with the new ride!
