With 89K miles on the car, I would also replace your water pump and install new wires too. If your current water pump starts leaking sometime soon, guess what will get wet again.....the NEW Opti.
i tried the hair drier and it fired up but run very rough so i tryed to let it warm up but it made no differance when it hit 220 the miss got worse then it cut out again so i have desided to leave it till i can get a new opti fitted ...
Like the other guy said, give it a couple days to dry out. let it idle a while in the driveway, too.

ps does any one know the part # for taylor plug wires?
A lot of guys use them, but a lot of guys have trouble with them as well. All you need is ignition wire trouble. Get yourself some Magnecores, Accells, Mallorys, or some Moroso Blue Max's.
i dont know much about the opti but u said u ordered 1.... did u get a stock replacement? cuz ive seen that the msd opti is half the price, and wouldnt it be better than a stock one? but i have noticed that no1 ever talks about it? is it any good?
1967 Camaro "Project"
1972 Chevelle "454"
1979 Trans Am "Project Ls-1"
the opti may not be bad, it just cant see. you could try cleaning the acutal sensor lens before using the new one. it may seem like a lot to do but you did say you wanted to save $.

i think the msd part is only the cap and rotor not the whole unit
