I run Royal Purple and K&N filters. The mileage has improved on my Durango (5.9 AWD gas hog) I like the K&N filter because of the wrench pad on the end (makes removing the filter way to easy)

Im going to have to try Royal Purple.... at least once. The T/A is running Valvoline right now.
I suggest giving yourself a motor flush before switching over. I used that 5 dollar bottle of motor flush you see at autozone...I think it actually is simply called "motor flush" It comes in a gray bottle. All you do is add the whole bottle to your oil and let it idle for 5 minutes, then shut off, and do your oil change.
If you have higher miles, I would recommend 10w-30. I have about 116,6xx miles on her right now, and that's what I use.

Yeah, but if you think about it, its almost $50 to have your oil changed by some other place (without a coupon or anything). I consider it worth it
I agree. $50 dollars + 20 minutes of my life really isn't that bad at all, but to some who chooses to do their own changes, that might seem excessive.

Read what I originally stated in my first post in this thread. I run the exact same setup as you, and was just curious if your Z does the same thing as my t/a does (with the oil pressure dropping followed by an increase in power).

I'll definitely look into the motor flush. As far as mileage goes, it's only got just over 16k on the clock. One thought I should bring up...
A good friend of the family has been a GM mechanic for several years (close to retiring now). When he heard I was using synthetic oil from the day I brought home my new Z34, he told me it was a mistake. He recommended it only after 50k. Not sure if he meant it would harm the seals, but he told me it was a waste of money until at least the 50k mark. I know another thing with synthetics is supposedly once you run it through the engine, you can't go back to regular oil. Not sure if that's just an urban legend though. Mythbusters should tackle that one.

International Oils 10w-30 and a nape silver 21069 oil filter. oil changed every 2500 miles(so far). dad ran cheap walmart oil(super tech?) and their filter in his old olds cutlass delta 88(big car) car had 240K on it be4 we junked it do to needed everything for front suspension. boss also says oil is oil, only diff is how its made. change it every 3k and ur car will run for however u allow it to run. boss has been in trade for over 30 years

In my 97 WS6, Mobil 1 10W30. I haven't heard about the "possibility" of Mobil 1's viscosity being advertised slightly "heavier" than it actually was. I'll read more about it over on cz28.com
I'm definitely going to try Royal Purple... at least once, but with the low miles I put on my cars, I tend to change it every 1,500 miles. Less with the T/A. My daily driver, a '91 Bravada, might get 7 - 8k this year as I only work a couple miles from home. The T/A is a garage queen. Might get 2k if I drive it enough this year.
