  • Meeting my sister for the first time today

My existance had been hidden from her by our father. I haven't seen him since two years old, he remarried and had a daughter. She found out not long ago and tried to track me down only to hit dead ends. After finally getting some info about my mom, she managed to track her down and that ultimately led to her finding me. I'll be picking her up at the Airport this late afternoon.... and I got to tell ya, this is really odd. I've had a sister for over 30 years that I didn't know about and suddenly I have family. The same goes for my son who now has an Aunt. I have no idea what to expect, but she is bouncing off the walls excited to have a brother. I guess I'm happy about it. It's just such a shock and an instant change of reality. I've put in for a week's vacation and I plan on showing her the swamps...er... state, maybe even a trip to the mouse house. What a goofy year, eh?

same thing happened to my Dad (grandmother refused any contact with her ex and resfused to allow my dad's biological to even contact him). Ends up he has 4 siblings he never new existed. 43 years later he finds out. I have 4 aunts/uncles that I never know existed (We found out through a Geneologist that researches my family's name, (very old name) when my sister was wanting to know what happened to our biological grandfather) (I havent met them myself)

    small world I tell ya

I hope you enjoy meeting your sister and a new member of your family

Family is number one, and as weird as it might seem, try and look at it as a blessing. It's good that she's enthusiastic to meet you, hopefully a good person has become the newest addition to your family tree.

I wish the best for you and your new family member. I hope all goes well and let us know how it all turned out!

Way cool! I hope it goes well. My oldest brother is adopted and knows nothing about his birth parents beyond what my parents were told. While he's never mentioned wanting to find them, I've always wanted to find them for him, but I don't want to step on his toes.

This is probably a blessing in disguise (well not for much longer). I'm sure this will turn out to be one of the best things that ever happened to you! You got a prayer from me brother!

Congrats, Joe! That is awesome, a person can never have too much family. I hope you two hit it off and can build a good solid relationship to make up for lost time.
I have a half sister that my brother and sister and I used to be really close with. She is from my dad's previous marriage. Well, apparently her mom told her all kinds of lies about my dad to make her not want anything to do with our side of the family, and it worked. I haven't seen her in about 15 years. Even though she isn't a full sister, I still miss her like crazy and wish I had the oportunity to have a relationship with her. Cherish this "new" sister of yours. I am happy for you.

                          Joe,
This is an awesome opportunity for you and your newfound family member. i hope all goes well and you finally get to have your sister. I know that mine is my best friend and I wouldn't trade her for anything.

P.S. She lied lots of times to our parents to keep me outta trouble. LOL
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up and totally worn out, loudly proclaiming......WOW WHAT A RIDE!!!

Congrats, but there's one thing we all hope for here. That would be that it's not somebody you've dated in the past
