Hey thats good news Joe, to be honest I dont how I would react but being the only child it sucks, to all of you who fight and argue with you siblings you have no idea how lucky you are. Good luck to you, this is a good thing.

The meeting was like an Oprah show. Tears, laughter, etc. We've gotten to know each other considerably over the last month or so. As a matter of fact, she's taking another short vacation and flying down again later this week. The experience was definately an emotional rollercoaster.

Ironic this thread was just brought back to the top..... She's flying down again this wednesday for another small vacation.

the other part of this reality show is that she has put me in touch with my dad...... I haven't seen him in 38 years. The situation between my parents back when I was an infant was volitile and I was hidden from that side of the family out of shear fear for my safety as well as the safety of my mom. Everything has been an emotional rollercoaster and to put it mildly, everything that I've accepted as reality over the last 41 years has been turned upside down and sideways. You know what they say....... Your perception is your reality. Well, my perceptions have changed so radically that wouldn't know where to begin explaining. Talk about growth at light speed......

I'm glad to hear everything is turning out great. Ain't nothin' more important than family. I love my T/A, but would give it up in a heartbeat in order to even help someone mildly in my family.

It's great to hear you and your Dad are in touch, as well. Let us know how everything turns out, Joe.

Just as everyone has already stated...it's all about the family. Everything else means nothing in comparison to the ones you whole heartedly love.

Joe, I sincerely hope that this experience as the ones I am sure that will follow help you in finding more about who you are. I'm glad to hear that she's coming down to visit you again....it seems like this is something she wants as well.

I wish you the best in learning to perceive your new self.

Take care and God bless my friend

Something kind of similar happened to my friend Mark. He's my dad's best friends son. I've known him pretty much since he was born. For the longest time, he never knew his father and couldn't remember him as they split up when he was a toddler. A few months ago, he recieved a phone call from his father out of nowhere. He was probably 1 year old when his parents split up and he's 25 now so for 24 years, he never knew who his other biological parent was. He flew out to meet his father and had a great time. Since things have gotten so crappy at his life at home (he still lives at home for numerous reasons) he wants to move out with his dad. I hope your experience is as great as my friends was. Good luck Joe!

Thanks guys...... you're all like family.

After this visit from my sister, I plan on flying up to see my dad. He's had some serious health issues so my guess is that he won't be around for too much longer..... I do want to be able to see him face to face before it's too late. regardless of the issues from 40 years ago, that was then and this is now.
