  • Pics of the 4" Mufflex and panhard relocation kit

Here's a pic of the mufflex installed and you can see how the BMR panhard brace relocation kit moves the brace and the panhard rod to a lower mounting point. This gives room for 3" duals over the axle.

Here's a pic of the left side stealth tip:

I take it that with the Panhard relocation kit you can run true dual exhaust OVER the axle I guess the days of true duals dumping before the axle are numbered with this setup ... now only need to hear a clip of it

It's like a sewer pipe! The sound doesn't drone badly, at part throttle it's got a big block rumble. At WOT it is music to my ears. The fit is excellent now that the panhard rod and brace are relocated. There is plenty of room for 3" duals over the axle.

                  Looks good!

How did the panhard bar relo kit alter the angle the panhard bar makes to the horizontal? It would seem if you lower the body end, and the body is lowered, it might be sloping down from the driver's side to the passenger side.... ?????

The level of the bar will affect how much the body offsets from the centerline of the rear end as the body rises and falls..... maybe an interesting affect on handling.

Originally, that 4" IM pipe was connected to this 4" outlet on my Y-pipe..... combine that with a 3.8" carbon fiber DS, and there wasn't much room left. It helps you understand just how big a 4" IM pipe is. Also give you an idea of the clearance issues with 3" branches on the Y-pipe.

The relocation brace follows the factory contour right up until it emerges from next to the fuel tank heat shield. At that point, the bar takes a bend and attaches to what was the panhard rod mounting location. I was expecting the panhard rod to require adjustment but was needed. So far, I haven't observed any ill handling, but I haven't pushed it...... yet. Perhaps tomorrow is a good day to experiment. I will measure the angle of the panhard rod and post it in the morning.

I don't know if it will actually hurt anything. Just thinking about the way the panhard bar works.

Given the fact that the bar is pivoting around the fixed height pin on the axle end, the amount of body offset is dependant on the angle the bar makes with the ground. If its perfectly horizontal when the car is at rest, moving the body end up or down will produce the same offset, moving the body to the left in both cases. With the bar starting below horizontal, as the body rises, the body moves to the right first, then if the body continues to rise, it will start to move to the left. And when the body drops from normal ride height, it will shift the body to the left at a faster rate.

Wonder why the factory set it up the way they did.... I think on a factory ride height setup, the bar is angled slightly up toward the body end of the bar.

Or maybe its not all that important.... I remember checking the body shift for dropping the body 1.25" and I calculated about a 0.10" movement to the side.

I asked that same question about the panhard rod a long time ago and decided that, while there would be some lateral movement of the body when it bounced up & down, that it would be minimal as long as the bar was near the horizontal line and providing the bar was as long as they could possibly make it, and the body's vertical travel was constrained to a few inches.

Whew..... took a 10 mile cruise to work this morning. This mufflex is not for the timid. It puts out some sound. With 3.73s, it's still a bit loud until you get to around 70. By then, it gets out of the rpms that tend to drone a little. My guess is with stock gears it would be a bit much.
