  • Need Help with wiring

I start my Z28 1995 and I notice smoke coming from under the hood. So i turned the car off. I notice a brown wirie burning. The wire is located on the passenger side. The wire is part of a pig tail wiring. What is the brown wire for?

I think youre gonna have to be more descriptive. Does it plug into something? WHere on the passenger side? Was it burning on a manifold or just burning?

I beleive its C100 that the harness plugs into it. The harness is located by the positive jump box.

That it, C100 and its the brown wire. What would make the wire heat up burn?

The brown is the hot lead to the right side fan motor. If the fan motor is shorted or drawing too much current, the wire can fry.

Check your fuse and see if it still has a 10 amp fuse in it. I'm wondering if someone put a larger fuse in it. Do the fans still work?

I'm not sure, I'll check it tonight. When racing your car (for A4) do race in over drive or Drive? The reason I ask I have 3200 stall and it seems to down out then shift back into gear. When it's in over D

I can't see how it would matter on a 4L60E.
