  • Sanding question

OK, on a panel like the front bumper or rear berger (the plastic like stuff) should I wet sand or dry sand? I have 1000 and 2000 grit paper, should I start with 1000 then go to 2000?

What are you trying to accomplish? (Why are you wanting to sand paint?)

Any finish sand should be with water to prevent the sandpaper from loading up and going the paint.

I'm making a black berger. I ended up starting with 600 (wet) then put the primer coats on. Looks good so far, I'm debating whether or not to sand the primer before the black coats.

Oh yes. Wet sand with 1000 grit before any coats go on.

Are you using enamel or lacquer?

I agree with Jeff. Absolutely sand the primer. If you burn through the primer in any spots after sanding, re-prime those areas and wetsand them again. This will give you a nice, even surface. Good luck.
