  • zz4 sucking up oil

Ive got a ZZ4 Crate engine w/ hot cam kit option. I live in CT and drive to Pittsburgh about twice a year. Its about an 8 hour drive at between 2500 and 3500 rpm. The motor typically runs great the whole drive. The only problem is that it eats about a quart of oil during the 8 hour trip. Does anyone else have a problem like this? Im 95% sure there is no oil leak and have never had a motor eat this much oil before. Also, the motor is relatively new, only about 10,000 miles. Any suggestions would be a great help.

Could be either the rings not well seated, pcv valve sucking up the oil or oil getting past the valve seals.

under what conditions do the valve seals typically leak? it doesnt seem to have the problem when trips are kept down to under an hour.
