  • Need help wit clutch

    ok guys, im gonna be doing the clutch in my car. that is if napa has it in stock or in by saturday. just wondering if u had any advice for me. thing that worries me is the torque arm. after tis up on jackstands, should i just put the jack under the pumpkin(rear end) to hold it? car is in sig

    whenever I do work on the rear of either of my cars I support the rear with stands under the frame rails and use a jack under the pumpkin. That way the car is stable and I only have to worry about the rear end moving by virtue of my using the jack.
    97 TA, M6, JBA ceramic coated headers, Borla Cat-back exhaust, 1.6 RR, 160 Thermo, LT4 knock sensor, CAI, Bils, Hotchkis all around, GT rotors, B&M shifter, Magnecor wires, Granatelli MAF
    In the shop LT4 Intake and heads.

      When I did my clutch I didn't pull the torque arm. I just unbolted it from the trans and let it sit upward. Didn't get in my way at all.

        im worried bout the springs. cuz on my 83 t/a when i resealed the rear end, i just unbolted the t/a and WHAM! the rear shot down and the springs were barely in there.but i think ill just use an extra jack to hold the rear

          Yes, use a jack under the rear end. If not there is nothing holding it to the car but the shocks.

          When I did my clutch though I just put jack stands under the front, and two jack stands on the rear end. One on each side of the pig nose.
