dude!! don't go cutting wires!! you must have a computer controlled quadrajet right? Don't mess with it. It all works in harmony. Governors are gonna be ECM programmed and set for speeds or a mechanical device for throttle position restrictions on the carb. If you wanna go faster get a chip or something. Don't cut any wires.93 Z28: LT1, AT, 3.73, Insulated IATS, pcmforless.com custom computer program, CAI, BBK 52mm TB, 160 thermo...etc..

no i have a 4bbl 305, but i no that all cars run a computer to control eveything. Can i get a chip for a non fuel injected car? If not then cuttin wires is what im gonna have to do. Ill just wire it to a toggle so my check engin light wont stay on all the time

Cutting wires will only hurt your performance. There is no "governor" like you are talking on your car. My car is a convertible, so it is speed limited to 110. Listen to the previous poster and leave the wires alone. You subscribed to this board to get expert facts.... Two people have told you now. Cutting wires will NOT make your or any other car run better or faster.
If you really have an undying need to eliminate the PCM, I recommend buying a non-computerized carb and go pull a non-computerized HEI off a 70's F-bod. Installation is simple.
The computerized stuff will absolutely NOT work properly without the PCM hooked up. A cousin of mine tried it. It turns the car into a gas sucking dog.

Specifically, the mixture control seloniod. It will default to rich-full, to protect against a lean condition due to a computer failure. In addition, the spark advance module and some others will take on a psuedo- limp home mode. The closest thing a carb car has to it. You will experience some strange driveability problems. The only way to avoid this completely, is to replace the carb, and the distributor with a pre-ecu model. This is for off-road only!!!!!!!!!! It is illegal to do this to a street driven registered auto. /disclaimer
