Im over on the gmvsford website and I am trying to help a guy diag a tranny problem and this other guy (who thinks hes God's gift to the 700r4) starts telling everybody how great he is and that I am wrong. I've been debating him (why? because its fun) for a few days and would appreciate if somebody else chimed in.

If I had to guess, based on lack of experience, I would say there is a band making metal to metal contact. There is also the possibility that it has nothing to do with the trans. Sometimes the serpentine belt will screech on a 2-3 shift. Usually they are quiet on a 1-2 shift due to a certain amount of driveline slip, but on a 2-3 shift the accessories have to slow rather quickly and there is less driveline slip. Often times the belt cannot slow the accessories in sync with the crankshaft, so a screech is heard that people mistake for a trans noise. I've seen that many times. It took an underdrive pulley with a fresh belt to cure that with mine.
