    Hey Ken

I Put on 3 coats of Z5 last night, with some Z6 in between coats. Honestly, the hood likes 100 times better. The swirls are almost COMPLETELY gone. I can now actually see a clear reflection in the hood, and see the light above it. Before, I would just see this nasty reflection due to the swirls. Anyways, I got one quick question. Is this Z5 a PERMANENT FIX? What I mean is, the swirls that I am fixing now, are they filled it and won't come back? I know that I can get more with improper washing, or morons buffing the car that obviously DONT know what they're doing.... But what was on there is that gone now? What I'm trying to get at is Z5 a permanent fix, or just a cover up? Like you know when you have a scratch and you use some of that wax in stores and it "fills it in" temporarily, but as soon as you wash and dry your car it reappears... I just am really curious. Please let me know!

    Thanks,

    Jeff

Also, my mom just got an 03 Ford Escape Limited SUV. She has the BLACK leather. I just ordered some Zaino leather cleaner and leather in a bottle, is that stuff good? I'm guessing so like the rest of Sal's products!

The Z5 is a temporary fix. It will stay looking good if you keep up with it with regular applications. If you just did the initial treatment and parked it out in the sun for a year, you'll see the swirls reappear. However, once people get hooked on Zaino it isn't hard to keep applying additional coats to keep it looking stellar. My 89 Cadillac gets a coat every month and with almost 200K miles, it look incredible especially considering it stays outside 24/7. The T/A has probably 75 coats and stays garaged. Every month I add another coat and it looks simply amazing. Even my Fiero where the clear coat has flaked off, the Zaino keeps the now bare basecoat from deteriorating until I get around to a new paint job. With Zaino it looks like any normal paint job.

UPDATE - What was done today >>

I took my car to a reputable detail shop today. A rather pricey one. Anyways, they washed my car, then took it into the detail center and he put some kind of liquid on the hood, and buffed it. He then took an applicator pad w/ some kind of polish that was in a yellow round container. He applied that, let it sit for a few then buffed it off by hand. Anyways, my hood looks a 100 times better. The swirls are pretty much gone. When I got home, I put some Z5 on the hood, this can't hurt it at all right?? Also, will whatever he buffed into the hood and applied by hand permanetly get rid of the swirls that were in the hood?

Sounds like he used something like Liquid Ebony and did a final cut on the paint. He literally took off a micro thin layer of the clear to "cut" through all the swairls and make it more even. Call it an ultra mild wetsand so to speak. Now is where the Z5 will work magic as you'll be starting off even better than where you started from before.

You should be good now, and the clear should be smoothed out. I am not sure which abrasive he used, I usually use the 3M professional line. Whenever, I cut the clear, I rub in a glaze. I use the 3M Imperial Hand Glaze item #05990 to smooth it out. Anyhow, you should be good to go. Just remember that buffing isn't a bad thing done by the right person, but it could get really ugly if done improperly. Anyhow, you should be in good shape now. It just wasn't finished properly by the person who did it the first time. Also, anything that you put on your car is water soluble unless it has something in it to repel water...even those break down in time. Anyhow, I think if you add the Z5, and keep up with the system and add the polish regularly, it should look good for a long time to come. The key is keeping up with it, and not letting it go. Joe, Ken, and the guys can tell you the duration between applications of the Zaino product.
