  • 1995 firebird cuts out and pops on start up

I just got this 1995 firebird. It has a LT1 350 and auto trans. When you start to give it gas it cuts out and pops but after you drive it for a few miles it runs great and does not act up any more until you turn the car off and take off again. It does it every time you start the car.Could it be a fuel filter.

Does the SES light come on? Does the PCM have any stored codes? Also using a scanner to look at the sensor outputs in real time might give you an answer. I would guess fuel filter probs would be more apparent at high RPMs as a stagger or a cut off. At idle the engine is using very little gas.

This could be an open -VS- closed loop problem.

      1995 firebird problem

The sec light has not came on.It runs good after you drive it for a few miles. It acts up after every time you start it.As long as you leave the car running it will not cut out.

        update on my firebird

I have replaced the fuel filter, ecs sensor, had the fuel pressure checked(42 to 44 pounds) cleaned the egr and iac sensor. It is still not running right.I going to pull the injectors out and see if they are leaking.Let me know if you know whats wrong with my car.

I don't think anybody is posting anything because they don't know what is wrong.

My first thought was a sticking fuel injector but I would think that might set off a SES light from a lean/rich condition.

I'm leaning to a spark problem since it doesn't seem to set the SES light off. With all of my problems with the OPTI spark section and all that I have seen on this board, that is my next "guess".

I don't know enough to diagnosis this problem. Let's see if this sparks a few comments.
