  • This doesn't sound accurate

Something is either very wrong or very right. I just had my car weighed and it only came in at 3240lbs. That's with no spare tire or jack, no back seats and the gas tank filled to the brim. If that's really all it weighs...in your face third gens!

When my scanner stops hating me, I'll try and post a copy of the slip.
Red 95 Trans Am: M6, Moroso CAI, Magnaflow, Spohn sway bars, back to life as of 2/15/10!!!

A woman did weigh it. Maybe she was trying to keep my car from feeling self conscious

The guy that was there with her goes, "It weighs what!? That thing must fly!!". The best part is that he really made the eek! face --->
      That made my day.

Well, it's odd. Everything I've read and been told said that Camaros were the lighter of the two cars. Now I'm seeing that Firebirds are actually lighter a lot of the time.

With the exception of power seats, whatever the upgraded sound system was in the 95 models and t-tops, everything.

That's not going to account for much in the 160 lbs. The weight difference between and automatic and manual V8 F-body is only about 20-30 lbs.

My 94 V6 T5 (camaro) weighs about 3150 with fuel. That's with manual windows, hardtop, cloth manual seats and no spare tire.

The stock converter out of my 97 WS6 weighed 40.6 lbs dry. My 4L60E full of fluid w/o converter weighed 181.2 lbs. T-56's have weighed right around 123-127 lbs wet. So the 4L60E combined with it's converter weigh roughly 222 lbs. So as far as just the transmissions are concerned, the weight difference is about 97 lbs.

But you have to also factor in the clutch, pressure plate, flywheel on the T-56 and that is likely another 40-45 lbs. So the overall difference between the 2 trans setups is roughly 52 lbs.

Your weight doesn't sound far off. Some of these people that claim that their stock 4th Gen weighs in at 3600-3700#'s or more just boggles the mind.

These are supposed to be the GM factory shipping weights for the Z28. That gets you a rough comparison, and good info on the +/- for the options and accessories.

That's what the smog station reported when I had the Z smogged last year...3750 lbs. The only thing I can think of is that was the GVWR weight.

You gotta tell Fat Tony and Tommy Two Thumbs to get out of the car before they weigh it.
