I can't remember the exact temperature they come on, i think 210 and 225. Some one will know for sure. And no they don't run all the time.

Oops just realized, that you have a third gen. Don't know the fan kick on temp but i think they don't come on till they hit a certain temp.

should come on around 225*F. Also they are supposed to run all the time the A/C is turned on.

Thanks for making that clear. I thought about adding that and didn't for some reason...

Also, if you pull codes with the paperclip trick the fans will run all the time the ALDL is jumpered with the key on.

right...but only in low. They still don't turn on high until 225* if I'm not mistaken...unless you tuned for lower setting.

He's got a 3rd gen. Do they do that to? (not that it really matters for his question)

                Fan Turns On When....

My 88 Camaro turns its fan on at 210 temperature wise and whenever the A/C is engaged. However, my fan is controlled by switches versus your 89 is controlled by the computer. Hope this helps.

im not sure if you really care, but me and my buddy and a manual fan bypass switch on his 84 T/A today. It was a breeze and i personally think its a great mod that was just plain easy. Kept the engine real cool, great for keeping everything running effiecently!

Thanks for the info guys, I just put on a manuel fan switch as well, but being slighlty inexperianced with the electrical I can only get one fan to come on, ever (i think maybe one of the motors is burned out) but ill get around to fixin it up when I have some time

                      Dual Fans

If you have dual fans, one is for the A/C and the other for the temp sensor. Your computer will control both. One with the temp sensor and the other with the A/C request sensor. Running engines too cool is not efficient. Engines need to get to their operating temperatures to run best.
