I wanted to know what you guys think the most powerful exaust system is for a 98 camaro. I am planning on getting the SLP headers and Y pipe, but i just think that there loudmouth exaust is too obnoxious and being a kid with a loud car doesnt go over well with the cops. Its also not the most power for your money so i was wondering what brand/ specific system you guys think will yeald the most h/p. (Dont not suggest something because its too loud)

Systems like the SLP 2OTL tend to make more power than the crossflow mufflers because the exhaust routing is more direct. I think Dynomax also has a system that exits the exhaust out the same side of the muffler. It looks dumb on our cars to see 2 pipes on 1 side and nothing on the other, but if it's about maximum power than that's the way to go. Mufflex offers 3.5 and 4" cat-back systems that also exit on 1 side of the car.69 Z28 with JL8 factory 4 wheel disc brakes, crossram, transistor ignition, radio delete, heater delete - being restored

I will agree, however, that the LodMouth system is something to avoid if you want to keep it low-key.SOLD: 2002 Trans Am WS.6 - Black on Black - 6 Speed

I think you'll find that most guys go with the Corsa, Borla, or Magnaflow catbacks on the LS1's. They are a little more expensive but they work very well and sound great. There is also Spin Tech, Flowmaster, Random Technology, MAC, Hooker, B&B, Mufflex, Carsound, Cartek, Whisper, Applied Technologies and likely many many more catbacks for the LS1. Don't believe the hype about the Flowmaster systems not flowing well. The Flowmaster also sounds great.
It's just my opinion and I know some members here love their Loudmouth, but to me the Loudmouth sounds like crap. It sounds like someone ran over a bump and damaged part of their exhaust. It just doesn't carry a good throaty note.....it's more of an annoying rasp.
I think the Magnaflow, Corsa, and Carsound catbacks sound the best on a LS1.

Check out ls1sounds.com for soundclips of LS1 cars with different exhausts and mods.
Of the clips I've listened to, I think Corsa sounds the best. GMMG is an awesome resonator exhaust. For a fairly stock car they should all give about the same gains. I'd pick the one that sounds and looks best in your price range. My only advice is to get one that is stainless steel. It'll last at least as long as your car.
I've been considering one as well, but my practical side just hasn't given in yet. That and I want a good sound that isn't loud or annoying on long trips. Maybe MagnaflowJoe K.

If you're tight on money, then the Magnaflow would fit the bill. Personally, I haven't been impressed. If money isn't such an issue, I'd suggest Borla with an elec. cutout motor. You'd be able to adjust how loud or quiet it is with the flick of a switch, completely stainless and sounds good even fully closed. Go to www.ls1sounds.com like Joe suggested and see which you like the best.Steve

The Corsa has a unique sound. It is expensive but has the best tips by far IMHO. Check this out:
http://media.putfile.com/Idle-CammedLS1
It is quiet at idle and screams at WOT. No drone at all in the interior. My buddy has the GMMG system and it has a lot of drone! It is not the deep bass sound of the old big blocks but I think it sounds good!Silver 02 WS-6, 6 speed, Corsa cat-back, SLP lid, K&N filter, BMR STB, !CAGs, Lou's short stick, MSD wires, MTI "Hammer" cam, ASP underdrive pulley, Hooker LTs, Hooker ORY, Comp 918s, TR pushrods, UMI Sfcs, UMI LCAs, NGK TR55s, Hotchkis springs

So basicaly what i think im hearing is that besides sound, all of these exausts make about the same horsepower, and i should just find the one that i think looks the best or sounds the best?[COLOR=Navy]2000 Navy Blue Trans Am, T Tops, Automatic, Ram Air, Slp 85mm Mas, Air Lid, Smooth bellow, Hooker 1.75 Lt's, ORY, LM1, Air/EGR delete, Throttle body coolant bypass. As far as the more expensive systems go, however, I prefer the Corsa myself. It was my second choice. Just my '02.SOLD: 2002 Trans Am WS.6 - Black on Black - 6 Speed

Steve and Greg pretty much summed up the LM. It is a love or hate catback. And those two porch monkeys know that I mean no disrespect by me saying I don't like the way it sounds.
Comparing the HP output of each catback is going to be relatively close with all of them. So like you said, it will boil down to how much you want to spend, quality, workmanship, and looks.
