  • Fuel filter replacement?

I figured I'd ask how hard this is to do as I am considering replacing my fuel filter once I go through my first tank of E10 fuel. Now that my car is still running strong, feeling very little difference with the new E10 fuel (actually might be a bit stronger), I'd like to keep it that way. The reason I feel the filter may need to be changed is because I did not have the opportunity to completely run out of the old fuel, so there was some gas with MTBE in the tank when filling up with E10 (shouldn't have been that much since the gas guage was pretty close to E, and it took 13.7 gallons). Is it true that mixing MTBE and Ethanol gas causes the gas to turn into black goo and clog everything up (fuel lines, filter, injectors, etc)?

    Tanks.

personally i dont think so, u might get a lil burp once and be bought it. heck even my boss's 1960 caddy dont mind the E10 and we havent even touched the carb yet. if the filter hasnt been replaced in the past 30-50K it cant hurt.

No. The only way that could happen is if the fuel system was already that bad to begin with. The only thing about ethanol that I would worry about is that is has a tendency to eat non metal fuel system componants. There is far less of a content than years ago, perhaps the newer cars are more immune.

          Harder starts with E10!

Why am I experiencing harder starts? Before, it would usually turn over about 1/2 second I turn the key. Now it takes almost a full second to start. Still runs great, idles great with zero sputtering. No SES.
