  • Finally Got Motor Out

Yeah i finally got my lt1 out of my 96 trans am.After throughing a rod it locked up tighter than s@@. i decided to take it out the top. what a bit@@. i found alot of secrets within the car. the motor had been out before and worked on. So after about 8 hours me and my dad got it out. (lots of stuff to disconnect)

Too bad you didnt take pics of the process. Id like to see just whats involved with the topside removal. Ive heard its a whole lot easier to take it out from the bottom...but not everybody has a nice shop, carlift and endless amounts of money like those guys on tv. But just how tight of a squeeze what it to come out?

There is plenty of clearance out the top. Even with the intake manifold still attached.

Here it is going back in from the top... I would say that it barely fit with the crank hub on there & the flywheel on the back, but it was harder than usual cause I didn't have any help doing it.

I did mine out the bottom at home with an engine hoist. You can even get away with tall jack stands and a decent lift jack. But a lift would be so nice.....
