First things first, though. Kevin, where else can you get a USB cable? I'll probably need one to test and implement a USB interface .dll. I also am using an old laptop for the serial port cable and am dying to move on, as well! Thanks...

AKM Cables carries the USB OBD-I and II cables as well. Looks like the PCM for Less USB cable is 10 bucks cheaper though.

Craig could smooth out his program by averaging one or two seconds of data at a time for final display. That way it wouldnt jump around so much.

He could even create a user definable setting that would allow the user to select the timeframe used to average.

Thanks Steve and Kev. I'll get whatever's the most "reliable" and sturdy. I do know it's going to be a PITA to read from the data stream, because I really don't know what to expect. What kind of stream...the format...how to parse it, etc. It would be very handy to get a hold of Freescan's source code, but I guess I can try to do it on my own first.

Tracy, you're right, I think it would be beneficial to take short term averages rather than instantaneous. I will try that and try to make it configurable, as well. Thanks for the suggestion.
