  • Production numbers

I've been looking off and on for the past few weeks for production numbers for the 93s. Specifically, I'm wondering how many 93 hardtop 6-speeds were made and what number mine was. Does anyone know or know a site with detailed production information? Thanks.

To my knowledge there is no such record of specific option combos actually produced, and there is no serial numbering (production number) of specific option combinations. Your "production number" is the last 5 digits of the VIN. The plate on the driver's door tells you what month it was built.

There are sites that show the number sold of each option, and you could get a mathematical estimate of how many were made of a particular option combo by multiplying the percentage of cars equipped with each option times each other.

      Total 93 production: 39,103

All were coupes, so then you need to deduct the number of t-top car = 39,103 - 3,340 = 35,763 hardtops.

      There were 31,691 built with A4's, so that leaves 39,103 - 31,691 = 7,512 manual trannies, but that include M5 V6's and M6 V8's.

      Other options:
      Base Coupe: 21,253
      Z28 coupe: 17,850
      1LE: 19
      Power seat: 19,348
      Power Locks: 32,970
      P. window: 32,397
      Power hatch: 38,477
      B4C: 135
Indy 500 pace car replica: 633
      Body side molding: 30,658
Rear defogger: 30,658 (seems odd its the same # as moldings???)
      AC: 38,949
      Remote mirrors:32,397
      Perfromance axle ratio: 14,428
      Block heater: 552
      Cruise: 38,486
      Aluminum wheels: 34,792
      Z-rated tires: 16,419
      235/55 tires: 18,373
      Fog lamps: 38,487
      Bose/cassete: 10,178
      Bose/CD: 10,740
      CA emissions: 4,419
      Base group???: 737
      Option pkg 1: 6,148
      Option pkg 2: 32,218

      PAINT:
      Pace car black/white: 633
      Arctic white: 1,506
      Dark gray-green metallic: 4,350
      Black: 9,655
      Patriot Red: 6,903
      Bright red: 11,136
      Purple Pearl: 4,920

I didn't proof the typing, if you want the checked numbers, buy the "Camaro White Book".

Thanks a bunch Fred, that helps a lot. So, the rough ratio of A4's to manuals is 4.2:1 for the hardtops, correct? If so, then I could just use this ratio to get a rough estimate of how many other cars are like mine (to a point), right?

Also, on a side note, is the Dark Grey-Green Metallic color the gun-metal-ish color? If not, do you, or anyone else for that matter, recall what that color is called? Thanks a bunch guys
