I know this seems like a stupid question but are you sure you are not hearing an exhauset leak? I would consider trying to get some high quality audio/video of the noise.

Not an exhaust leak. That has been checked. but it didnt cross my mind that possible a baffle in the muffler broke or something got bent. Theres no TIN rattle noise in it.
If you see in my first post i stated it sounds like a wheel bearing moan, when they go bad. But it still does the similar noise while stopped in neutral reving to 2200-2400rpm.
and audio video clip will be very difficult being the exhaust is fairly loud. But i will try the next time i get it on the lift. Its possible the audio may pickup something more than we can with it running. Will try and get back to ya today if possible on that
Doug
Also anyone got any high rez pics or a step by step teardown of a T56. The info was not release into my service manuals. I will feel better if i look insideand maybe check some things.
EDIT: NVM i found a service guide, whats common for wear/tear and breakage in the T56?

Sorry to bring an old thread back. but finally fixed the noise.. (I Hope it wont come back again)
I am believing it was 2 small noises making one loud noise.
1, I did notice the noise changed with the belt off the car. So I pinpointed it to alternator, Took it apart and found the armature shaft was warped or bent. Not much but only enought to make a vibe at 2200rpm crank speed. Which is very fast on alternator side. Alternator was not replaced yet but its getting torn off today to get a new replacement.
2. This weekend i decided to change out the spark plugs with Delco Dbl Plats, damn expensive plugs. After 1.5 hrs of tearing up my arm getting my hands in there all noises went away. Wires were new Taylor wrapped in MSD sleeving. Opti is also new Delco unit. I inspected the old NGK plats, and i dont see any cracking or signs of a bad plug other than a little dark.
Everyone i asked (not including on this board) said a spark plug will do that. But this proves wrong that spark plugs can in fact fail with very little mileage on them.
Now back on to the modding.
Thanks guys,
Doug
Also whats typical timing chain life on these pre-roller chains? Any recommended replacement chains available? Or maybe a wholesale kit? I can get the cam gear, chain and crank gear for right at $107 from dealer. Let me know if anything is comparable.
