Allright Monsoon Experts....gm9-aux question

Here's a toughy...

I installed an gm9-aux input onto a monsoon system from a 2001 Blazer. The problem is that several lights are burnt out in the Blazer head unit. I have a replacement circuit card (where the lights are soldered in) from another Blazer Monsoon Head Unit, but it's one that doesn't support gm9-aux. If I swap out the circuit board, will that negate the gm9-aux compatibility?

The only reason I ask is that it would be easier to swap the card than to re-solder the bulbs.

Well, it looks like the board is soldered in, so I won't be doing the swap. Instead I'll just be replacing the bulbs. I need to get a better soldering iron for more control though. The last time I did this with my $8 iron the results were iffy.

Make sure you get a DC Iron. You don't have to wory about magnetic fields destroying near by sillicon chips.

Its just that the AC versions make masive amounts of EM radiation with a big field area and can cause issues. The DC ones are EM free and usually work better too. Also when ever a person is done with the Iron make sure you put a good glob of solder on the end and let it cool, this will keep the end in tip top shape and wont oxidize during storage.
