I have a 1994 Formula and the starter went out and we replaced it. But now sometime my car starts fine but other times it takes about 4 or 5 turns. When it doesn't start right away it sounds as if the starter is hitting the fly wheel..Any suggestions?

its neither. Its just a clicking noise. If you get under the car w/ a flash light when it does it, you can see the arm come out of the starter and hit the fly wheel i believe but then sometimes it doesnt hit and the car starts right upYoungin' JP

some starters require shims, if u take the old one out and theres a flat peice of metal with it, put that metal back its the shim and will shim it perfectly.
as for the intermitant no start - check all the connects, clean them 2. the batter and start connections. if the problem presists have the starter tested2009 Honda Civic EX- the daily beater
