I dont know for sure, but Ive always been told, that the Z28's and Trans Ams equipped with Z rated tires did not have a limiter. Im sure something like that shouldnt be too hard to find out.LarryMow-93 V6 Firebird-No engine mods-Z06 Wheels, '98 Taillights,'98 Center Console-SLP fan switch-BMR STB, F/R Swaybars, PHB,LCA,Torque Arm, SFC, Bilsteins, Eibachs....www.cardomain.com/ride/2489691/1

Just curious... why would any rational person rev what it basically a stock LT1 to 7,000rpm, when it makes peak HP closer to 5,000? If you have that little respect for your engine, get a Honda S2000 and you can rev the piss out of it for a valid purpose
Some of these statements push the limits of believability.Fred

Also, addressing what was said before Fred's post, having Z-rated tires changes the speed limiter, not the rev limiter. And, even then, the speed limiter is still there, as you'll find if you search these boards.Steve

The stock LT1 programming has a rev limiter of 5,800-5,900rpm, depending on the trans type and which gear its in. The cars without the Z-rated tires have a speed limiter in the 108-117MPH range, depending on the year. The Z-rated tire versions have "255" in the speed limiter field, the upper limit of an 8-bit binary field.Fred

I am waiving the BS flag..................
You cannot elimiate the rev limiter. All you can do with a Hypertech is raise the limit to a slightly higher number. I believe that the highest threshold from hypertech is 6200 rpms. If the tach reads higher, it's tachometer error and not reality.
