I replaced my window motor in may of 2004. I had to replace it again in september of 2006. Lucky it had the lifetime warranty. Jeff, very weird yours didn't have a lifetime warranty. That's the only reason I buy from autozone or advance auto. If they didn't give lifetimes, I wouldnt buy any of the junk they sell.

My drivers side window started acting up intermittently last Sunday... I figure its the switch, the BCM module or the motor itself (most likely) . I thought motors lasted a lot longer than 5 years on F-bodies

I could have sworn they said it was a lifetime warrantee too but I saw it on the screen. That's another reason I went to NAPA. The AutoZone motor lasted about 5 years which I think is pretty bad so I wanted a different manufacturer.

ok i found the window motors on ebay, they are $39 each but the shipping is cheap and comes with a lifetime warranty. so i'll be able to pick up both for under $100. one more thing to note, yesterday i checked out the windows and when pressing the passenger window switch on the drivers door, it will do the usual(go up halfways then stop), and when i press the drivers switch, there is nothing at all. maybe there is a bad connection on the switch?

try swaping the switches, it might be that the drivers side switch is broken and then you know what the problem is, try feeding power direct to the window motor see if the motor is bad or the fault is somewhere in the electrical circuit. i thought thewindow motors dont just stop working like that if they were working ok, they give some signs first , like strange noise, slow movin or stuff like that, i might be wrong though

yeaa because the drivers side has always worked fine, it was just the passenger window that didnt. another thing to note is that on the switch, the passenger button works, but the driver window button does nothign. that is why i was thinking it may be the switch

I had the same problem on my 96. My problem however was that gm used fiberglass for the door frames, and the motor wollowed out the holes that the rivets are in, so when I try to let the window up, it cocks a little and binds. Well, while I was stationed in Hawaii and hadnt had time to fix it yet, I was driving back to base in a monsoon trying to get the window up and it bound up bad enough to rip the guide wheel out of the track. I called my buddy at GM about it, he told me that the tsb for that very common problem was to epoxy the holes and drill new correctly sized holes for the replacement rivets!!! So with everything hooked up and the door panel off, try to work the window and see if anything in there tweaks a little.

I would just buy a motor from gm and waste a day putting it in. I got lazy and asked dealership they wanted $450. I tried an ebay motor it lasted 1 year and and gm one I repaced is going strong for 2 years now. They say there new oem parts but who knows what you really get online. On my second one I got faster but who wants to keep changing them out.It is usually cheaper to buy from gm online than at local dealership.
