Considering other options now as well...

I have always wanted to upgrade to the 17" SS style rims. Where would be the best place to obtain those?

I have used these people before. Great service and good prices.

I can't see a difference in the SS wheels and the ZR1 wheels except the ZR1s are a 1/2" wider.

That is a good mod. They fit the car much better than the 16X8 wheels do.

Adding to the experience and opinions here- I just swapped rims, went from some Kumho Ecsta's to some Goodyear RSA's- I would never pay the price that TireRack asks for the Goodyears, but they do feel tighter and more responsive than the Kumhos ever did- and, the Goodyears suck in the wet, even worse than the Kumhos, which I thought were about okay, considering the low price

The guy I swapped rims with bought a set of SS wheels with the Goodyear F3's, and he says they are incredible- but I suppose you would feel that way going from a 16 inch 50 series to a 17 inch 40 series tire anyway- bigger contact patch and lower sidewall-

Not many tire choices in the 16 inch world- I have been looking at the Goodrich KDWs, too, and maybe the old-school TA's- I wish someone made a 275/45-16 tire that would be dimensionally identical to the SS tire package-
