  • Door lock knobs %^&*%+^&#$

I just spent all day putting all new speakers and Dynamat in my car. I had the hardest time getting the lock knobs on, and I finally quit trying because it is getting dark here (EST +8 hours). I'll take the door panels off again New Years day. What I would like to know is what is the best method for getting those little suckers on?

There is a trick to it. Once you know the trick they snap on in seconds.

    It's a secret.

Here goes... the rod is bent at a 90. The bent part goes in the hole in the knob then the knob just snaps over the rod with a gentle push.

....Right. what i do is: put the door lock rod through the hole opening in the inside door panel handle trim , then just place the lock knob on and firmly snap it back on.

It also helps if you make a hook or something to reach in back of the lock rod to help pull it toward you as your snapping them on.

Or you can just slide a screwdriver behind the lock rod to keep it from pushing in a you snap the knob in place.

I loosened the door handle trim piece and made a hook with a coat hanger to hold the rod as I snapped it in. Thanks to everyone (except TraceZ, may he have to change spark plugs soon).

Use needle noses and hold the rod. Goes on within seconds. I have removed my door panels dozens of times and it works perfect.

I've never had to hold the rod with anything. A gentle push and they snap right on.

I must be the lucky one.
