Picked up a nice project z28 im currently in the process of revitalizing.. 94' z28 141k brand new auto tranny....
I pulled the motor out the top a few weeks ago, left the tranny in the car. I tore down the motor found it spun a bearing - so i tossed the crank, but kept all the rods and pistons. I sent the block to the machine shop, they hot tanked it , put new cam bearings, freeze plugs and gave it a nice hone. They said one cylinder was slightly scored but should be fine... Now i got this block on the stand ready to go... i have new stock crank for it, im thinking im just going to re-ring the old pistons and just let them sit in the parts washer for about a week. the cam is completely bad, every other lobe is pitted. the lifters have wear too. Whats a good cam/lifter kit with slightly more performance than the stock setup, keeping budget in mind? I was thinking an lt4 hotcam... but im not sure about matching lifters for it. Also with those cams do you have to press the dowel pin in for older optis?
