  • Misfiring, running rough

On my way home from work, I noticed the car started shaking terribly. It began to lose power and was shaking worse at low RPMs. As the RPMs go up, the shaking seems to go away, but still down on power - which I would assume would be running on 7 cylinders? I can hear something detonating/popping in the headers, which I'd assume is due to a misfiring cylinder's raw fuel loading up the headers?

It's too hot to be touching the plugs and wires yet, but they all look ok and connected well. I did a scan and obviously see KR, but also noticed that the O2s are not even close to normal - both sides. I don't see any jumping, they are just at a stagnant .25 to .5. I attached the scan, in which it hit closed loop about half way through. I really hope it's just a plug wire. Thanks for any advice.

BTW, I renamed the attachment from csv to txt because it wouldn't load a csv file.

So I found the problems. One was plug wire #6. It was charred near the plug. It was arching because of the exposed wire.

The other problem was...another Comp Cams rocker stud broke. I had mentioned in a previous thread that one already broke on the passegner's side. Now the driver's side broke. I don't get it. They are 7/16" studs too, yet this is the second that broke within a few months. I had them on for a couple years (then had the 355 rebuild with all new parts), and now they're breaking easily. I wouldn't be surprised if a third will break soon. Should I complain to Comp Cams? Or should I just replace them as they break? The new motor hasn't even seen the track yet. I just don't get it.

I would run itr by them. That's definately strange.

Thanks Joe, I left them a note and hopefully they'll get back to me. So now both valve covers are messed up with outward dents in them.
