Got the resistors and the car is running, changed the oil, and now shes leaking antifreeze. Kinda sucks that my truck has a bad steering gear wont be fixed till monday. It might be time to let her go

The waterpump is leaking, and the enigine is making noises in the bottom half. If I had a garage I consider turning it into a project, it has been very good to me in the last 6years untill now I've only had to replace the tires, battery and brakes. I dont want to spend the time/money replacing the waterpump then have the engine go. Did a waterpump on my bros Caprice a few years ago witch has twice the room what and it was not fun.

Doing a water pump on an LT1 is not simple but it's not that difficult either.
Just recently, I did my water pump and opti in a single afternoon by myself. Invite a buddy over and it should go even quicker.
Autozone lists a valuecraft (1 year warranty) water pump for $54.99 after core. Throw in a few extra $ for some new clamps, some silicone sealant and new antifreeze and you should be out the door for around $75, assuming you reuse your old thermostat and temp. sensor. I would suggest getting new ones. They're cheap (180 deg. TStat is $8.99 and temp. sensor is $12.99) and as long as you are doing the work you might as well do it right.
Personally, I went with the duralast water pump (lifetime warranty) from AZ. I'm on my 2nd one of those so I haven't broken even yet but I have a feeling...
Fix what you know is wrong now and don't borrow trouble.

If the engine wasn't making noise it would be a different story. I just dont feel that investing more time and money into it is a good idea. I wouldn't even consider getting rid of it if I had a garage, i'd turn it into a project car then.

I decided to go ahead and do the waterpump I'm too attached to let her go. While I'm at it I'm going to replace the sensor for the temp. gauge is that located on on the water pump or block?. Is this the one I need for the gauge

Good for you... The water pump isn't a terrible job if you take your time. I can't comment on the sensor.. Good luck2005 GTO (mine) K&N CAI and Magnaflow exhaust, drilled and slotted rotors, and other minor mods.
