  • draining fuel tank

my t/a is down for repairs. will be a while before i can get $$ to finish. was looking to drain the fuel out of the tank. cant find anything in a repair manual that details it. the bulb siphon that i got at the auto parts store wont get into the tank thru the filler tube. anyone have any experience on how to drain the tank easily? thanks.

we used at a auto shop was a peice of rubber fuel line with a hole cut on the end and used compress air to start a vacuum to pull the fuel out other trick was we used we kept a weak but working fuel pump with a hose , put in the filler and let it pull the fuel out

well problem is getting into the fuel tank past the filler. seems to be some sort of baffle at the end of the tube. guess i should of been more specific. but thanks for the compressed air idea. that does seem easy if i can get a tube into the tank- thanks

use a rubber hose, it will snake in, or you could disconnect the filler and just go from the opening of the tank

Remove the schrader valve from the fuel rail test port, hook up a rubber fuel line hose about 5-6 feet long. Turn the key to run and let the fuel pump empty the gas into spare 5 gallon gas cans.

I did that until I figured out there is a 'test port' for the fuel pump... the little grey single wire connector near the pcm; just apply 12v and go, just dont cook your pump
